The founder of Top Schools, Ruth has over 25 years’ experience in the education system in Hong Kong. She has the advantage of many years in different areas of education – as a teacher, a teacher-trainer, a parent and now consultant.
Ruth writes and speaks about private and international schools for parents, corporations and other groups. She is a frequent contributor to local media including the SCMP, Playtimes and Sassy Mama and generally regarded as the go-to expert on this topic.
Originally from the UK, Ruth has been in Hong Kong for over 25 years and is the mother of two children; one at international school in Hong Kong and other at boarding school in the UK.
Marketing Communications Manager
Samantha has been living in Hong Kong for over 2 decades, working for most of her career in marketing communications roles within the hospitality and event management industries.
She brings a strong creative and content marketing background and is passionate about staying up-to-date with the technology forces of the future.
Born and raised in Derbyshire (UK), Samantha holds a BA(Hons) degree in Tourism Management from London Southbank University. She has two teenage daughters - one at school in Hong Kong and one at university in the UK - and enjoys the village lifestyle in Sai Kung.
Education Recruitment Specialist
With over 10 years of experience in Account Management and Recruitment, Meishana is passionate and dedicated to providing the highest quality of professional recruitment services in the education sector as well as having expertise over the multitude of schools in Hong Kong to better servce her clients.
Meishana has a background in Human Resources Management and has worked at the University of Sydney for a number of years as a Client Engagement Manager for Sydney Talent. Originally from Australia, Meishana has been in Hong Kong for over 7 years. She is a mother of two - at two different international schools in Hong Kong.
Jacqui was born, and spent her primary and lower secondary education in HK. She experienced upper secondary school and University in the UK.
A keen musician, Jacqui speaks fluent Cantonese, English and Putonghua, as well as conversational Korean.
Jacqui has been at Top Schools for eight years and works primarily with Chinese speaking families.
With a legal background, Nicola was work for a multinational company specializing in school placements across Asia before joining Top Schools in 2015. She has an excellent understanding of different curricula and the challenges of moving families across continents.
Nicola has spent over two decades in Hong Kong and with three children she fully understands the need for proper planning to meet the individual requirements of families.
She has personal experience of navigating both the local and international schools in Hong Kong and transitioning between these systems.
Gigi was born in the Netherlands and raised in Belgium. After graduating from the University of Maastricht, she moved to Hong Kong to discover and explore and the birthplace of her ancestors. She has over a decade of successful experience in Administration and Facilities Management in MNCs.
Before joining Top Schools, she took a career break to look after her two young children and was previously working at an International School in Hong Kong.
Gigi speaks fluent Dutch, English and Cantonese as well as conversational French.
Senior Consultant, UK
Marianne graduated from Monash University in Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and enjoyed a career trading Financial Derivatives in Hong Kong and London before starting her own family. She has extensive experience applying for schools, liaising with school admissions, preparing students for examinations and interviews and has an excellent knowledge of most of the UK’s top boarding and day schools with three of her own currently studying at various top schools in the UK.
Currently based near London, she lived in Hong Kong for 15 years and can speak Cantonese. Marianne has successfully placed children into schools including Eton College, Westminster School and Rugby School.
