The founder of Top Schools, Ruth has over 25 years’ experience in the education system in Hong Kong. She has the advantage of many years in different areas of education – as a teacher, a teacher-trainer, a parent and now consultant.
Ruth writes and speaks about private and international schools for parents, corporations and other groups. She is a frequent contributor to local media including the SCMP, Playtimes and Sassy Mama and generally regarded as the go-to expert on this topic.
Originally from the UK, Ruth has been in Hong Kong for over 25 years and is the mother of two children; one at international school in Hong Kong and other at boarding school in the UK.
Marketing Communications Manager
Samantha has been living in Hong Kong for over 2 decades, working for most of her career in marketing communications roles within the hospitality and event management industries.
She brings a strong creative and content marketing background and is passionate about staying up-to-date with the technology forces of the future.
Born and raised in Derbyshire (UK), Samantha holds a BA(Hons) degree in Tourism Management from London Southbank University. She has two teenage daughters - one at school in Hong Kong and one at university in the UK - and enjoys the village lifestyle in Sai Kung.
Senior Search Consultant
With over 10 years of experience in Account Management and Recruitment, Meishana is passionate and dedicated to providing the highest quality of professional recruitment services in the education sector as well as having expertise over the multitude of schools in Hong Kong to better servce her clients.
Meishana has a background in Human Resources Management and has worked at the University of Sydney for a number of years as a Client Engagement Manager for Sydney Talent. Originally from Australia, Meishana has been in Hong Kong for over 7 years. She is a mother of two - at two different international schools in Hong Kong.
Jacqui was born, and spent her primary and lower secondary education in HK. She experienced upper secondary school and University in the UK.
A keen musician, Jacqui speaks fluent Cantonese, English and Putonghua, as well as conversational Korean.
Jacqui has been at Top Schools for eight years and works primarily with Chinese speaking families.
With a legal background, Nicola was work for a multinational company specializing in school placements across Asia before joining Top Schools in 2015. She has an excellent understanding of different curricula and the challenges of moving families across continents.
Nicola has spent over two decades in Hong Kong and with three children she fully understands the need for proper planning to meet the individual requirements of families.
She has personal experience of navigating both the local and international schools in Hong Kong and transitioning between these systems.
Business Development Manager
Hannah moved to Hong Kong from the UK in 2011 and has gained nearly a decade of experience working in the education sector during this time. Before joining Top Schools, Hannah worked within a busy early years education environment, heading up business development projects, responsible for the strategic direction, vision and growth of the brand. Hannah thrives in meeting new challenges and watching brands push towards operational excellence.
As a Mother of 2 young daughters at the beginning of their education journey, she understands the complexities of preschool education in Hong Kong, from the parent perspective. Hannah takes on a mindful and positive approach to all aspects of her life with a strong interest in the aesthetics of the environment we create for ourselves and how this impacts our creativity and performance.
Gigi was born in the Netherlands and raised in Belgium. After graduating from the University of Maastricht, she moved to Hong Kong to discover and explore and the birthplace of her ancestors. She has over a decade of successful experience in Administration and Facilities Management in MNCs.
Before joining Top Schools, she took a career break to look after her two young children and was previously working at an International School in Hong Kong.
Gigi speaks fluent Dutch, English and Cantonese as well as conversational French.
Selina has worked in marketing and business development for the past 20 years, specialising in the education sector since 2016. Due to several family relocations between Singapore & UK since 2009, her children have attended multiple combinations of British local, prep and boarding schools, international schools in Singapore and recently through the UK & US university admissions process.
Selina understands on a deeply personal level the difficulties and concerns associated with moving children across countries and education systems, especially at key academic stages, and is passionate about enabling other parents to also make informed choices. Selina is also proud to be the Good Schools Guide International Editor for Singapore.
Asia has been home to Louise and her family for eleven years, settling originally in Singapore and more recently Hong Kong. Louise has seen her 3 children through the transition of nursery, Montessori, kindergarten, prep, elementary and senior school with relocations and overseas boarding thrown into the mix.
Louise holds a BA Hons degree in Educational Studies focusing on child and adolescent development.
Senior Consultant, UK
Marianne graduated from Monash University in Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and enjoyed a career trading Financial Derivatives in Hong Kong and London before starting her own family. She has extensive experience applying for schools, liaising with school admissions, preparing students for examinations and interviews and has an excellent knowledge of most of the UK’s top boarding and day schools with three of her own currently studying at various top schools in the UK.
Currently based near London, she lived in Hong Kong for 15 years and can speak Cantonese. Marianne has successfully placed children into schools including Eton College, Westminster School and Rugby School.
